  • 定义: 修饰名词或代词的从句,在句中作定语。
  • 引导词:
    • Who: 指代人 (主语或宾语)
    • Whom: 指代人 (宾语)
    • Which: 指代物 (主语或宾语)
    • That: 指代人或物 (主语或宾语)
    • Whose: 指代人或物 (表示所属关系)
    • Where: 指代地点
    • When: 指代时间
  • 类型:
    • 限定性定语从句 (Defining Relative Clause): 从句对先行词起限定作用,去掉从句句子意思不完整。
    • 非限定性定语从句 (Non-defining Relative Clause): 从句对先行词起补充说明作用,去掉从句句子意思仍然完整,从句前通常有逗号。
  • 用法:
    • 引导词在从句中作主语时,谓语动词的数要与先行词保持一致。
    • 引导词在从句中作宾语时,可以省略(但在非限定性定语从句中不可省略)。
    • "That" 只能引导限定性定语从句。
    • 介词+ which/whom: 当定语从句修饰的先行词需要用介词连接时,介词可以放在 which/whom 前面,或放在从句末尾。 介词放在 which/whom 前面时,只能用 which/whom,不能用 that 或 who。
  • 例句:
    • The man who is wearing a hat is my teacher. (限定性)
    • Beijing, which is the capital of China, is a beautiful city. (非限定性)
    • This is the book that I borrowed from the library. (限定性)
    • The company whose products are famous is located in Shanghai.
    • The park where we often go for a walk is very big.
    • The day when I met her was unforgettable.
    • The tree which I climbed is very tall. 或 The tree that I climbed is very tall.
    • The person to whom I gave the book is my friend. 或 The person whom I gave the book to is my friend.
